Colin Wright is an American biologist and anti-transgender activist. Wright is involved with anti-trans hate groups including Society for Evidence-Based Gender Medicine and Genspect.
Background
Colin Morgan Wright was born on August 26, 1985 to Rill Aimee (Hall) Wright (born 1953) and William Thomas “Tom” Wright (born 1948). Wright earned a bachelor’s degree from UC Davis in 2012 and a doctorate at UC Santa Barbara in 2018. Wright’s dissertation was on collective hunting in a spider society. Wright’s dissertation committee included Thomas Turner, Erika Eliason, and chair Jonathan Pruitt.
Wright taught at Penn State, with research focused on collective social behaviors of insects and arachnids.
Wright served as Managing Editor atĀ QuilletteĀ magazine. Wright’s anti-trans work has also appeared inĀ The Wall Street Journal,Ā The Times, andĀ The Australian. Wright also publishes via Substack as Reality’s Last Stand.
Since getting involved in anti-trans activism, Wright has become romantically involved with fellow anti-trans activist “Christina Buttons.”
Wright and Emma Hilton contributed a chapter titled “Two Sexes” to the 2023 anti-trans book Sex and Gender: A Contemporary Reader.
In 2023, Wright joined the Manhattan Institute. On October 4, 2024, Wright was the host for the Portland, Oregon lecture tour event featuring Richard Dawkins.
