Bret Samuel Weinstein was born on February 21, 1969 in Los Angeles. After transferring from University of Pennsylvania to UC Santa Cruz, Weinstein earned a bachelor’s degree in 1993. Weinstein met future spouse Heather Heying there. Weinstein earned a doctorate fromĀ University of MichiganĀ in 2009.
From 2002 to 2017, Weinstein taught biology at Evergreen State College in Washington State. A major conflict involving the schoolās progressive faction led to a legal settlement with the college and the 2017 resignations of both Weinstein and Heying.
