Libby Emmons vs. transgender people

Libby Emmons is an American writer, podcaster, and anti-transgender extremist. Emmons was named Editor-in-Chief of anti-trans group blog The Post Millennial and has also served in that role for Human Events following that organization’s acquisition of Post Millennial in 2021. Emmons has written for many other anti-trans publications, including Quillette, UnHerd, PragerU, Washington Examiner, Arc Digital, New York Post, The Federalist, The American Conservative, National Conservatism, Independent Women, and The Spectator.

Background

Elizabeth “Libby” Emmons was born on September 11, 1975. Emmons earned a bachelor’s degree from Sarah Lawrence College in 1998 and a master’s degree from Columbia University in 2007.

Emmons married Fox News columnist David “Dave “Marcus (born 1974). They have a child (born 2010).

In 2000, Emmons and Marcus co-founded Blue Box Productions, a theater group “dedicated to art for non fascist living.” The company mounted a number of plays written by Emmons. Emmons also began posting theatrical reviews on the group blog New York Theatre Review. In 2013, Emmons launched a personal blog, Li88yinc (a play on “Libby, Inc.”). Emmons was also part of theatrical group Puss Collective.

Anti-trans activism

In a 2022 podcast interview for Daily Signal, Emmons described becoming involved in anti-trans activism in the early 2010s:

“I started to become concerned about what was going on in the industry [independent theater] and what was going on on the left substantially with regard to gender issues and women’s rights and things like that. And had been doing some research into that since about 2013, maybe a little before that. […] As time went on, I became more vocal in that space, and specifically with regard to writing articles about it. I had written for The Federalist. Nobody really cared in the downtown theater scene that I was writing for the Federalist because nobody reads the Federalist in downtown indie theater. They don’t even, you know, they don’t have any interest. 

On June 3, 2015, Emmons and Marcus co-authored a post for The Federalist in response to Caitlyn Jenner’s coming-out interview and cover photo for that month’s Vanity Fair.

“How have we arrived at a point in which feminists fundamentally alter their definition of womanhood to accommodate men? […] To allow the trans movement to objectify women is to accept the oppression of the female sex by the male sex, and to further accept male definitions of what it is to be female. To allow the trans movement to objectify women is to accept the oppression of the female sex by the male sex. […] Being oppressed by men is being oppressed by men, even if those men are wearing dresses.

[…] These carpet-baggers to womanhood are trying to prove to all of us that what it really means to be a woman is to pose in a playboy bunny outfit and make kissy faces at men.

[…] Being a woman is what Kant called a “ding an sich,” a thing in itself. It is a biological reality, it is powerful, and important and underrepresented and often underappreciated, but it’s a real thing. It’s not someone who was once a man living out a Victoria Secret model fantasy. And anyone who calls themself a feminist should know that.”

Emmons and Marcus began commenting more frequently on transgender topics, repeating similar views.

Emmons also began writing about transhumanism, claiming that sex robots, emerging reproductive technologies, and transgender people share a goal of “making women obsolete.” In the 2022 interview, Emmons stated:

But then [in 2018] I had written an article for Quillette about transhumanism. I was saying that there are undercurrents to transhumanism in Western culture, AI human integration such as Neuralink, body hacking, and also transgender ideology. This article became known, and some people decided that I was saying, that they interpreted my article about concerns about transhumanism as saying that transgender people are weird future robot people. This is like a direct quote. So that became a problem for non-binary lesbians in the community. The downtown indie theater scene in New York is remarkably small. I’m sure that’s a surprise to no one. It’s a very small community. And there were issues that I had done this. So the women I was working with thought that maybe I should apologize. And we essentially had a major falling out. After that, the theater company closed. We gave back the grant that we had, or I should say they gave back the grant that they had. I spent several weeks trying to get them to talk to me again. And then I wrote a new article for Quillette about how writing for Quillette ruined my heart’s career. That really was amazing. And then I started doing this more.

The Pod Millennial (2026–)

On January 27, 2026 The Post Millennial launched the podcast The Pod Millennial. Prominent anti-trans guests include Ben Appel, Sall Grover, Michael Knowles, Graham Linehan, Tim Pool, and Jennifer Sey.
