Camille Kiefel and transgender people

Camille Kiefel is an American “ex-transgender” activist. Kiefel gets money and attention by making it harder for others to get trans healthcare.

As an adult, Kiefel began identifying as nonbinary at around age 26 and had top surgery at age 30. Kiefel later regretted the decision. Kiefel then became a professional ex-trans activist.

Background

Camille Kiefel was born in 1990. Kiefel enrolled at Portland State University as a young adult.

Kiefel is heavily invested in metaphors of disease and impairment as identity and reportedly has the following problems:

  • CPTSD
  • major depressive disorder
  • ADHD
  • generalized anxiety disorder
  • suicidal ideation

In around 2016, at age 26, Kiefel began identifying as nonbinary and medically transitioned as an adult. On August 28, 2020, at age 30, Kiefel had top masculinization surgery in Oregon. Kiefel began to have regret over the next two years.

Anti-trans activism

Kiefel initiated two lawsuits against providers who tried to help:

  • Oregon Case 22CV29327: Camille Kiefel v Amy Ruff, LCSW, Does 1-10, Brave Space, LLC, Mara Burmeister, LPC, Project Quest. This lawsuit against Kiefel’s therapists was settled for an undisclosed amount in January 2026, shortly before the judge was set to make a ruling on a motion for summary judgment.
  • Oregon Case 24CV10314: Camille Kiefel v Oregon Cosmetic and Reconstructive Clinic, P.C., Tina Jenq, MD, Providence Milwaukie Hospital, Providence Health & Services – Oregon. This lawsuit against Kiefel’s surgical team was dismissed with prejudice, and Kiefel was ordered to compensate the defendants for bringing forth the action.

Kiefel is listed as principal of Detrans Help, Inc., a nonprofit founded in 2023. In 2024, Kiefel established a website offering paid one-hour personal consultations and group or team workshops.

Kiefel has made the rounds on conservative and fascist media promoting the ex-trans movement.

In 2026, photographer Matthieu Zellweger published profiles of eight ex-trans activists, including Kiefel.
