Stuart Jarvis is a researcher who co-authored two of the York Reviews, papers commissioned by the Cass Review, a report commissioned by the UK’s National Health Service (NHS), created as a pretext to restrict or ban trans healthcare for minors.
Background
Stuart William Jarvis earned a master’s degree from University of Warwick in 2004. Jarvis worked as a patent examiner from 2004 to 2007. From 2009 to 2014, Jarvis worked for KDE, a free open-source software project. Starting in 2015, Jarvis was named a research fellow at University of Portsmouth. Jarvis earned doctorates from University of Southampton in 2011 and University of York in 2022. Jarvis left University of York in 2025 to work as a statistician at Our Future Health UK.
York Reviews
From 2014 to 2025, Jarvis was a research fellow at University of York.
The systematic evidence reviews often referred to as the “York Reviews” were conducted by researchers at University of York’s Centre for Reviews and Dissemination (CRD).
The York Reviews were commissioned as part of the wider Cass Review, a report commissioned by the UK’s National Health Service (NHS), created as a pretext to restrict or ban trans healthcare for minors. The review was chaired by the pediatrician Hilary Cass and aimed to assess existing research and clinical practices related to trans healthcare. Cass commissioned the reviews through a competitive tendering process.
