Sarina Singh vs. transgender people

Sarina Singh is a Canadian social worker and anti-transgender activist. Singh organized anti-trans “free speech” events in 2017 and 2018.

Background

Sarina Kaur Singh was born to Sikh immigrant parents and lived in Toronto’s Riverdale neighborhood before moving to Mississauga. As a child, Singh reportedly “’suffered from self-hatred’ and a desire to be white.”

Singh earned a bachelor’s degree from Ryerson University in 1999. From 2000 to 2007, Singh was a child protection worker at Catholic Children’s Aid Society of Toronto. From 2008 to 2017, Singh was a social worker at Interval House, then left the field.

Singh got deeply involved in intellectual dark web anti-trans activism between 2017 and 2021. Singh ran the website Recovered Social Worker, which featured testimonials from anti-trans activists Oren Amitay, Gad Saad, and Jordan Peterson. Singh stated on the since-deleted Recovered Social Worker website:

“For the past 20 years, I have worked as a social worker, specializing in the areas of child welfare, mental health and addiction, domestic violence and working with high-risk and marginalized communities. I left the field in April 2017 due to stress related to the insufferable neo cultural Marxist postmodernist agenda that has taken over all aspects of the social work profession. An ideology which views the world through the lens of the oppressed and the oppressor. An ideology which dispenses any notions of objective truth or morality and now dictates policy and law in our legal, educational and political institutions. Workers are compelled to kowtow to a very limited narrative that is rooted in radical feminism and failure to do will have professional consequences. I am of the Milton/Mill school of thought that believes that bad ideas need and should be debated in the open forum for 2 reasons 1) the ideas can be exposed 2) good ideas/narrative could be presented that will challenge the bad ideas. The threat of freedom of speech in Canada with the recent passing of Bill C -16 and the current M -103 motion have made me a staunch free speech advocate. I now hope to devote my time, energy and voice to stand up to the value of free speech. I will be communicating my thoughts, ideas and lectures with other like minded people on my webpage with the hope of creating awareness.

Anti-trans activism

In 2017, after setting up Recovered Social Worker, Singh organized an event titled “The Stifling of Free Speech on University Campuses” featuring Faith Goldy, Oren Amitay, Gad Saad, and Jordan Peterson. The event was to be held at Ryerson University, but it was cancelled by administrators, citing security concerns. Anti-trans activist Debra Soh stated: “But the ‘safety’ concern is a dubious one, considering that Sarina Singh, organizer of the Ryerson event and an alum of the university, said in an email that far-left groups including No Fascist T.O. had been harassing Ryerson’s administration to cancel the event, calling the panel speakers ‘Nazis.’ Once the event had officially been cancelled, the group’s ‘anti-fascism’ rally turned into a celebration on Ryerson’s campus.”

Singh later held the event at Canada Christian College.

After Wilfrid Laurier University teaching assistant Lindsay Shepherd showed a clip of Jordan Peterson in class which led to backlash, Singh commented:

“The path the universities are taking is terrifying me they have turned into indoctrination cults. Dr. Peterson was right all along about Bill C-16, and we are seeing proof of this in these recordings. How have we reached a point in academia and society when we allow a tiny percentage of people who wrongly believe in gender- fluid and non – binary identities to take over the universities. There is no such thing as non – binary, gender – fluid….yes, there are intersex people but they make up a small percentage of the world population, less than 1%. I am still waiting for all the science and medical faculties across Canada to step forward and denounce this pseudo – science. Their silence on this debate is deafening! Here’s a fact, men cannot magically turn into women, and vice versa. As Ben Shapiro says, we should not be encouraging people with mental health issues to compel others to be in a false reality.”

The next year Singh organized an event at Canada Christian College titled “Bill C16: One Year Later: Sex, Ideology and Compelled Speech in Canada.” Announced speakers were Jared Brown, Barbara Kay, Lindsay Shepherd, and Debra Soh.

In 2021, Singh began working for Dufferin Area Family Health Team as a housing support worker, at which time Singh began quietly removing online evidence of past anti-trans activism.
