“Peachy Keenan” / Laurie Stalberg Gigliotti vs. transgender people

.

“Peachy Keenan” is the pen name of Laurie Stalberg Gigliotti, an American author and anti-transgender extremist.

Background

Laurie Noelle Stalberg was born in 1973 to Lorraine Stalberg and forensic psychiatrist John M. Stalberg. Laurie grew up in Pacific Palisades with siblings Noelle and filmmaker John Stalberg, Jr. Laurie attended Marlborough, an elite private girls’ school in Los Angeles, then earned a bachelor’s degree from University of Pennsylvania in 1994. Stalberg wrote for The Daily Pennsylvanian and studied in Spain while at Penn.

Laurie Stalberg Gigliotti married lawyer Aaron Gigliotti on August 23, 2003, reporting that “the wedding took place at the Gigliotti family compound in Santa Monica.” The couple has lived in New York City, Sherman Oaks, Altadena, and Pasadena. Laurie Gigliotti coverted to Catholicism “from secular nothingness.” According to the book dedication in Domestic Extremist, Gigliotti’s spouse “made me the domestic extremist I am today.” Laurie Gigliotti frequently writes about their five children: Bruno (born 2005), Ivan (born 2007). Agatha (born 2008), Alexei (born 2011), and Magdalena (born 2015).

Prior to becoming an author, Gigliotti was a copywriter at Disney Parks And Resorts Digital, HBO, Live Planet, IEC, and Jack Morton Worldwide. Gigliotti was a freelance copywriter for Lloyd And Co., Point7west, and Kraftworks, and was also a lead content strategist at Razorfish.

Anti-trans activism

Gigliotti began getting involved in anti-trans activism in the early 2020s.

Laurie Gigliotti is credited by name as writer of the 2022 anti-trans short film “Women’s Sports Be Like.” The plot is similar to the anti-trans film Lady Ballers produced by Daily Wire: “When coach Lee is desperate to get a win, he utilizes today’s culture’s latest loophole: female identifying men show up and DOMINATE at the girls varsity basketball tryouts! Bring on the new recruits!!”

In a 2022 article for The American Mind, Gigliotti wrote:

It’s going to take a different kind of village to rescue children from our current monsters masquerading as benevolent leaders. They can be found in the gender clinics infesting every major hospital. They run the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Medical Association. They are legally in charge of your children now, and they’re making the rules. The gender fanatics have picked up their pitchforks and are headed your way to claim scalps—and scrotums—for their trophy walls. 

Several Twitter users previously identified “Peachy Keenan” in 2023 as Laurie Gigliotti.

In 2025, Gigliotti announced a new group blog about California titled The Magpie Flyer.

Domestic Extremist (2023)

In 2023, anti-trans publisher Regnery released Gigliotti’s first book, Domestic Extremist: A Practical Guide to Winning the Culture War, The book was blurbed by a number of anti-trans activists, including Inez Stepman, Mary Harrington, Bridget Phetasy, Spencer Klavan, Christopher Rufo, Mollie Hemingway, and Tucker Carlson.

In a Washington Post book review,

Today, trans women occupy the same central position in the fevered imagination of the likes of Keenan, who devotes an entire chapter to the “domestic abusers and rapists” who are supposedly “‘becoming transgender’ and requesting transfers to women’s prisons.”

Another review states:

Domestic Extremist starts off asking its readers several pressing questions. And after reading these questions, you can pretty much figure out Frau Keenan isn’t a fan of the LGBTQ+ community, especially non-binary and trans people and people who have pronouns in their email signatures (funny, because she uses pronouns all over her book).

Gigliotti frequently appears in the media with other anti-trans figures, including Benjamin Boyce, Chaya Raichik, Alex Kaschuta, Megyn Kelly, Lou Perez, Louise Perry, Bridget Phetasy, Jack Posobiec, and Marissa Streit.
