Michael Kerr and transgender people

Michael Kerr is a Scottish ex-transgender activist. Kerr gets money and attention by making it harder for others to get trans healthcare. Kerr is affiliated with anti-trans hate group Society for Evidence-Based Gender Medicine (SEGM) and Clinical Advisory Network on Sex and Gender (CAN-SG).

Background

Michael W. Kerr was born in ~1992 and is based in Glasgow. Kerr was reportedly sexually assaulted in the bathroom of a gay club at age 18. Kerr stated:

“During my time being Caitlin, I went through the stages. I was a hardcore TRA (Trans Right Activist), going down the route of “Trans rights are human rights,” then moved to “trans medicalist,” and finally ended on gender critical. Watching people within that cult was eye-opening. Hearing men say that they want to breastfeed a child or have a womb transplant to be able to carry a child made me physically vomit. This was what pushed me into believing the concept of “true trans.” But then everything began to shift. Doubt crept in, growing stronger with each passing day, until one question refused to stay quiet: why isn’t this treatment working?”

In 2018, at age 25, Kerr began making a gender transition via the Sandyford Clinic, taking the name Caitlin Louise Kerr. After two years of social transition, Kerr began taking hormones in November 2020. Kerr stopped taking hormones at the end of May 2025 and told Sandyford about plans to “detransition” in June.

Ex-trans activism

Kerr created the website Detransition Pathway UK, which offers “peer support, resources, and honest conversations about the realities of detransition and identity.”

In January 2026, Kerr spoke at an event protesting the UK’s PATHWAYS puberty blocker clinical trial. Kerr attended the 2026 Detrans Awareness Day conference held by anti-trans hate group Genspect in Washington, DC. Kerr was then profiled by anti-trans writer Nick Wallis for The Times. Kerr was an announced speaker at the 2026 conference in London held by anti-trans hate group Society for Evidence-Based Gender Medicine (SEGM) and Clinical Advisory Network on Sex and Gender (CAN-SG).
