Julie Rei Goldstein and transgender people

Julie Rei Goldstein is a tech worker, actor, and activist. Goldstein is an important figure in documenting litigation brought by ex-transgender activists.

Background

Julie Rei Goldstein was born in August 1982 and is from Caracas, Venezuela. Goldstein earned a bachelor’s degree from San José State University. Goldstein has worked in customer-facing operational positions and compliance at TeleNav, American Emergency Notification, The SoulGeek Network, MySpace, RapidNotify, Disney Interactive, EZ Testing, and Mobitini.

Goldstein has performed as a voice actor in a number of video games, films, and television series, focusing on animation.

Goldstein was the lead voice actor for the announced animated series Gen Zed. The trailer was released in June 2015 and generated signifcant negative response from anti-trans trolls online, who derided it as an “SJW” [“social justice warrior”] show. The show was not released.

Activism

Goldstein is best known for closely tracking litigation brought by ex-transgender activists, posting updates on social media under the hashtag #DeTransLaw. Goldstein maintains a partially public repository of legal documents related to these cases.

Goldstein has identified as a “based SJW” and was involved in the trans community’s mid-2010s call-out culture centered around ringleader Parker Molloy.

Goldstein has also sought to engage those opposed to the trans rights movement, appearing with Jonathan Kay, Debra Soh, and Meghan Murphy on the Wrongspeak podcast in 2018 and on Agree to Disagree about Gender with Laura Targownik and Yvette Nary in 2026.
