Sexology and transgender people

Sexology has been one of the key ways transgender people have been oppressed and exploited in academia.

Early sexologists believed transgender people had a psychosexual pathology (a sex disease). They also categorized trans people based on their sexual interests and behaviors rather than by gender identity and expression. This led to many disease models and other bad ideas about the nature of being transgender, including
