LaRell Herbert is an American mechanic, trucker, and ex-transgender activist. Herbert gets money and attention making it harder for others to get trans healthcare.
Background
LaRell Paul Herbert was born in November of 1980. Herbert has run several transportation concerns on the west coast. In 2014, while LaRell Trucking was based in Grande Ronde, Oregon, the US Department of Transportation revoked its registration. Herbert has also offered photography and videography services.
Herbert is currently owner of LaRell Herbert Trucking in Colorado.
Ex-trans activism
Herbert got married in 2016 to someone who knew about Herbert’s interest in crossdressing. In 2017, they watched the documentary Gender Revolution, which featured a couple that stayed together through a gender transition. Herbert started a transition shortly after, eventually getting bottom surgery in 2019. After making a gender transition at around age 37, Herbert lived that way for about six years, until around 2023, writing:
There came a point in my self-healing journey where I had come across enough information about identity formation, and how childhood experience programs our sense of self that suddenly it was as if enough pieces of the puzzle came together, that I suddenly found myself realizing that my gender identity was something that “formed”. Something I was not actually “born with” but something that formed through experience. That I had been exposed to just the right sequence of events and experiences and developed perspectives in my early formative years, that I developed this sense that I was meant to be female.
It blew my mind! All these years I had been living with this relentless belief and feeling that I was truly female on the inside. And when I learned enough about trauma, and how humans identity is formed, all of a sudden I found myself questioning whether what I was doing was necessary. I found myself realizing that perhaps all along, the answer to my happiness was not in becoming something or someone different….but in learning to love who I already was.
In 2024, Herbert released two self-published autobiographical books that put forth anti-trans views.
On May 20, 2025, Herbert was a signatory on a letter from Independent Women’s Forum to Congress supporting the “Protect Children’s Innocence Act” introduced by Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene. It was also signed by Prisha Mosley, “Chloe Cole,” Emelie Schmidt, Pear Joseph, Annika Bigeleisen, and Simon B. Amaya Price.
