Lawyers’ Christian Fellowship vs. transgender people

Lawyers’ Christian Fellowship (LCF) s a British organization for Christian solicitors, barristers, judges, academics, and law students. Their goal is “bringing together and supporting lawyers who trust Jesus as Saviour and follow him as Lord, so they make a gospel IMPACT in the legal world.”

LCF has organized anti-gay protests. Members have been involved in supporting anti-LGBTQ legislation and policy. In 2026, Amensty International UK published reports listing LCF as an anti-rights organization.

Background

In 1852, a group of Christian barristers and solicitors formed the Lawyers’ Prayer Union in London. Around the 1970s, they renamed it the Lawyers’ Christian Fellowship (the LCF).

LCF has expanded efforts into East Africa and the Caribbean, opposing LGBTQ-supportive legal reforms.

In 2004, LCF spun off its public policy unit Christian Concern for Our Nation (now Christian Concern). LCF did this because British law requires that charities not engage in political activity. Andrea Minichiello Williams, a barrister who had joined LCF in the 1990s, became the leading public figure associated with Christian Concern.
