Christian Concern vs. trangender people

Christian Concern is a British evangelical organization that seeks “to infuse a biblical worldview into every aspect of society.” It maintains a dedicated “Gender” policy page, stating that they “underline the reality and purpose of the distinction between male and female, and challenge transgender ideology.”

Christian Concern has several related entities:

  • Lawyers’ Christian Fellowship (LCF), which launched Christian Concern in 2004
  • Christian Legal Centre, founded in 2007
  • publishing arm Wilberforce Publications, founded in 2013

Christian Concern is listed in Amnesty International UK’s retracted 2026 reports on anti-rights movements in the United Kingdom.

Background

Christian Concern for Our Nation (CCFON) was founded in 2004 as the public policy unit of Lawyers’ Christian Fellowship (LCF). In June 2008, CCFON separated from the LCF and became an independent organization, because British law requires that charities not engage in political activity. Andrea Minichiello Williams, a barrister who had joined LCF in the 1990s, became the leading public figure associated with CCFON.

Following the separation, Christian Concern expanded its legal advocacy, public campaigns, media presence, and educational activities, becoming one of the United Kingdom’s most prominent evangelical Christian public policy organizations.

Anti-transgender activism

In addition to having a dedicated section on Gender and information on gender-related cases involving Lawyers’ Christian Fellowship, Christian Concern regularly publishes anti-trans blog posts.

The New Normal (2018)

Christian Concern founded publishing arm Wilberforce Publications in 2013.

In 2018 Wilberforce published The New Normal: The Transgender Agenda edited by historian Lisa Severine Nolland. The first half is on “the transgender agenda,” and the second half covers “other LGBT issues,” including criticisms of “same-sex” parenting, polyamory, and youth culture.
