Eagle Forum vs. transgender people

Eagle Forum is an American conservative nonprofit opposed to transgender rights.

Background

In 1967, anti-feminist activist Phyllis Schlafly launched the Eagle Trust Fund to fund conservative causes. In response to the proposed Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) in 1972, Schlafly founded Stop ERA and The Eagle Forum Newsletter. In 1975, Stop ERA was renamed the Eagle Forum.

Its political action committee, The Eagle Forum Education and Legal Defense Fund, was organized in 1981.

In 2016, a splinter group formed a separate entity named Phyllis Schlafly Eagles and established a separate political action committee, Phyllis Schlafly’s Eagle PAC.

Anti-trans activism

Eagle Forum opposes transgender youth, transgender athletes, and Planned Parenthood.

Eagle Forum has supported a number of anti-trans activists, including James Lindsay, Chloe Cole, Riley Gaines, Seth Dillon, Michelle Cretella, Billy Burleigh, Erin Brewer, Vernadette Broyles, Maria Keffler, and Mary Eberstadt.
