The Catholic Medical Association is a British anti-transgender trade group for healthcare professionals who are Catholic.

Background
The organization was founded on October 21, 1911 as the Guild of Saints Luke, Cosmas and Damian. It was inspired in part by established Catholic medical guilds in France and Spain. In 1913, they held their first Medical Congress, and in 1914 began publishing The Gazette, which ceased publication before being replaced by the Catholic Medical Guardian in 1923. That publication later evolved into its current version, Catholic Medical Quarterly (CMQ). In their early years, they changed the organization’s name to the Guild of Catholic Doctors.
The Guild of Catholic Doctors was established by a trust deed on April 25, 1990 (Charity No. 1002374) and officially registered as a charity on March 26, 1991. On August 9, 2023, the organization was registered in England and Wales as the Catholic Medical Association (Charity No. 1204290). The change was made to include all healthcare professionals. Both charities were kept active.
The CMA (UK) is affiliated with both FIAMC (The International Federation of Catholic Medical Associations) and FEAMC (The European Federation of Catholic Medical Associations).
Anti-trans activism
The majority of CMA’s discussion of transgender people appears in Catholic Medical Quarterly.
In 2026, Amnesty International UK listed CMA in reports on anti-rights groups in the UK.
