Terry Ross Bard is an American rabbi, psychologist, and anti-transgender activist.
Bard is a leader of the anti-trans front group Institute for Comprehensive Gender Dysphoria Research.
Background
Terry Ross Bard was born on January 17, 1944 in Chicago to Bernard David Bard and Lillian (Terry) Bard. Bard earned a bachelor’s degree from Brown University in 1966, a master’s degree from Hebrew Union College in 1971, later returning for a doctorate in 1996.
Bard was a rabbi at Boston-area temples from 1971 to 1998. Bard served on the board at Jewish Community Council, Boston from 1976 to 1984.
In 1976 Bard became a psychotherapist at the Rabbinic Counseling Center. Bard served as Vice President of Interfaith Counseling Services, Inc., Newton, from 1988 to 1993.
From 1976 to 1996, Bard was associated with Massachusetts Mental Health Center.
Since 1984, Bard has also been associated with Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, working in medical ethics, spiritual care, and research subject safety..
Bard authored the 1990 book Medical Ethics in Practice: The Ethics Advisory Group At Boston’s Beth Israel Hospital: A Case Study (Death Education, Aging and Health Care).
Anti-transgender activism
Bard is affiliated with Institute for Comprehensive Gender Dysphoria Research. Its anti-trans leadership also includes Sasha Ayad, J. Michael Bailey, Anna Hutchinson, Lisa Littman, Lisa Marchiano, Stella O’Malley, and Anastassis Spiliadis.
