Judith Green is a British anti-transgender activist. Green co-founded anti-trans group Woman’s Place UK. The Labour Campaign for Trans Rights described it as a hate group.
Background
Judith Green was born in January 1973 and was reportedly sexually abused in childhood. Green was active in Youth and Student Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament. Green told Meghan Murphy:
I gravitated to the part of the left that supported autonomous organization of specially oppressed groups — women, black people, lesbians, gay men, etc. — and I got myself a pretty thorough education in Marxism. Although I am no longer in organized far left politics, I am still really grateful for that foundation in Marxism — it really helps for clarity of thinking about the material basis of oppression and the importance of understanding structures.
Green got involved in anti-trans activism after “I learned that a small radical feminist conference, Radfem 2013, had been chucked out of the London Irish Centre by a pincer movement of Men’s Rights Activists and transactivists.” Green describes being influenced by Elizabeth Hungerford’s 2012 post, “A feminist critique of cisgender.” Green and others opposed proposed changes to UK’s Gender Recognition Act that allowed gender self-identification.
