“Sarah Rudd” / Scarlet Mason and transgender people

Scarlet Mason is an American eugenicist, transgender troll, and “autogynephilia” activist. Under the names “Sarah Rudd” and “S. Rudd,” Mason has collaborated with other “autogynephilia” activists, including Kevin Hsu and James Morandini.

Background

Scarlet Celeste Mason was born in August 2001 to Matthew Vincent Mason and Jacki Lee Rudd Mason. Mason identifies as disabled and “autogynephilic.”

Mason made a gender transition as an adolescent with parental support. Mason was a client of conservative psychologist Laura Edwards-Leeper, first seeing Edwards-Leeper in around June 2016. In November 2022, Mason told anti-trans activist Jesse Singal:

“She was the psychologist responsible for helping me get on puberty blockers as an adolescent (approved at 14, actually received a supprelin implant [NOT lupron ]shortly after my 15th bday, then HRT at about 16 and a quarter), and although you guys disagree with this stuff I maintain that she saved my life, or at least ability to live a happy fulfilling QOL. When she did my outtake at like… 17 or 18? She said I was one of the most dramatic changes she had seen in a patient because by the start when I wasn’t on blockers or Hormones I was extremely agoraphobic, unable to make eye contact and suicidal, when she did my out take she said I was one of the most dramatic changes in a patient she had ever witnessed because by adulthood I was , in the midst of transition, able to do public speaking and able to speak to strangers or basically minimal to no issues, as well as mitigating most of the issues that at least I believe were caused by GD.

[…] When I was transitioning as an adolescent I went to a peer group for Trans / “non binary” youth and it was almost exclusively natal females, with what appeared to be social influenced GD. They all had friend groups of mostly natal F nb/FtM/”transmasc” peers who would suddenly come out shortly after each other.”

Mason attended Flex Academy in Vancouver, Washington, which offered an opportunity to complete an associate’s degree at community college as part of the curriculum. Mason earned an associate’s degree from Clark College in 2023 and a bachelor’s degree from Washington State University Vancouver in 2024.

Mason intends to go to graduate school, reportedly applying to dozens of programs.

Mason has expressed consistent support of eugenics and euthanasia, saying “I just say what I think. And I’ve supported eugenics since I was 14 or so.” (reddit, January 29, 2023)

“Being trans is easily the worst thing in my entire life, and I say that as someone disabled. I dream of a world in which prenatal tests that detect gender dysphoria are used to encourage abortion, or CRISPR manages to edit out the dysphoria gene.”
“If you’re extremely disabled I don’t even consider you on the same level as your average human being so I don’t consider it murder for that reason, especially if it’s merciful.”
“In order to lessen overpopulation we should give financial incentives for people to get sterilized. Especially if those people carry hereditary disabilities or illnesses.
