Nicola Williams vs. transgender people

Nicola Williams is a British sex segregationist and anti-transgender activist. Williams founded anti-trans business Fair Play for Women and seeks to maintain remaining sex-segregated traditions. Williams opposes participation by trans athletes in sex-segregated competitive sports, opposes accommodation of incarcerated trans women in and opposes policies that allow gender self-identification.

Background

Nicola Louise “Nic” Williams was born in December 1973. Williams attended University of Leicester, earning a bachelor’s degree in 1996 and a doctorate in 1999. From 1999 to 2011, Williams was a researcher at AstraZeneca.

Anti-trans activism

In 2017, Williams created a report on trans prisoners. Later that year, Williams submitted a written statement to the UK Parliament Justice Committee inquiry titled Prison Population 2022.

In October 2019, Williams incorporated the for-profit business Fair Play for Women.

In 2020, Save Women’s Sports prepared a petition presented to the International Olympic Committee protesting their transgender athlete policy. Williams and Fair Play for Women were signatories.

In 2021, Williams and Fair Play for Women were among anti-trans groups who met with new leadership of the UK’s Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC).

On January 11, 2023, LGB Alliance published a complaint submitted to the United Nations Human Rights Council’s Independent Expert on SOGI. Williams and Fair Play for Women were signatories.
