Kaeley Triller Harms vs. transgender people

Kaeley Triller Harms, formerly Kaeley Triller Haver, is an American anti-transgender activist. Triller Harms co-founded anti-trans group Hands Across the Aisle Coalition and has been involved with MassResistance and Just Want Privacy.

Background

Kaeley Anne Triller was born on April 2, 1983 and attended Northwest University from 2001 to 2005.

At age 23, Triller Harms worked as a resident treatment counselor for at-risk youth. In 2017, Triller Harms admitted to self-reporting a 2008 sexual relationship with a former counseling client who was a minor when they met. That relationship resulted in a child named Tristan Samuel, triggered an investigation, and reportedly led to a strike by Child Protective Services.

Triller Harms later married Daniel Harms and has three children.

Anti-transgender activism

In 1998, Triller Harms was named communications director with the YMCA of Kitsap and Pierce Counties. In 2015, the organization reinstated a policy that allowed transgender members to use the locker rooms and restrooms based on their gender identity. Triller Harms was reportedly assigned to work on the new policy. Triller Harms was then fired “for inappropriate communication with members” after complaining to the board and alerting some members.

Triller Harms was a member of the Washington chapter of MassResistance.

Hands Across the Aisle Coalition

Hands Across the Aisle Coalition (HATAC) was co-founded in 2017 by Triller Harms and Miriam Ben-Shalom.

Just Want Privacy

Just Want Privacy was a “campaign to repeal the state’s dangerous bathroom rule.” The Revised Code of Washington (RCW) 28A.640.020 and 49.60.030 was updated to allow people to use sex-segregated public facilities based on their gender identity. On January 17, 2017, Just Want Privacy filed Initiative Measure No. 1552 to challenge these gender-inclusive laws.
