John Sylla is an American pro-bisexual and anti-transgender activist. Sylla has provided funding to several anti-trans academics who promote harmful ideas about sex and gender minorities.
Sylla is best known for giving money to J. Michael Bailey after Bailey stated that “in men there’s no hint that true bisexual arousal exists,” claiming all men are either “gay, straight, or lying.” After getting money from Sylla, Bailey suddenly “discovered” male bisexuality and gave Sylla an academic co-author credit in the “discovery” Sylla bankrolled.
Anti-transgender activism
Sylla is chair and CEO at the American Institute of Bisexuality, which publishes the anti-trans publication Queer Majority.
