Alexandra Houle vs. transgender people

Alexandra Houle is a Canadian anti-transgender activist. Houle is founder and president of anti-trans group Réseau Féministe Quebécois [Quebéc Feminist Network].

Background

Réseau Féministe Quebécois (RQF) was created in 2024 in response to trans-inclusive academic organization Réseau québécois en études féministes (RéQEF) based at Université du Québec à Montréal [University of Quebéc at Montréal].

Similar to anti-trans group Pour les droits des femmes du QuĂ©bec (PDF QuebĂ©c). RQF promotes what it describes as “universalist feminism,” emphasizing “sex-based” rights, secularism, and opposition to gender identity policies that it argues conflict with women’s rights.

On September 4, 2024, RQF became a signatory to the Declaration of Women’s Rights Based on Biological Sex and promoted an open letter to UN Women concerning sex-based rights.

On October 10, 2024, RFQ organized the “Mobilization for Equality: Stop Germany’s SELF ID Act,” followed by a November 1 demonstration outside the German Consulate in Montreal. Houle did several media interviews and podcasts discussing the organization’s goals and its views on women’s rights and gender identity policies.

On May 22, 2025, RFQ coordinated an open letter urging reforms to Canadian prison policies regarding the placement of transgender prisoners. On November 24 and December 4, RFQ participated in Quebec’s constitutional consultations by submitting a brief on Bill 1, arguing that Quebec’s proposed constitution should explicitly protect equality between women and men and uphold secularism.

On March 7, 2026, Canadian Women’s Sex-Based Rights (caWsbar) held an event titled Reality Based Women Unite in Montreal. The event featured Linda Blade, “Genevieve Gluck,” Alexandra Houle, Heather Mason, Anna Slatz, and Natasha Tutino.
