Facial feminization: implants

Generally speaking, implants in the face are less about “passing” and more about attractiveness and facial balance.

Cheekbone implants are the most common implant procedure for trans people. They can help make the chin and jaw look a little smaller and can make you look a bit more striking.

Chin implants are more rare, but for someone with a very weak chin or overbite, it can make your face look more feminine.

Implants and hair removal

It could be coincidence, but I have known quite a few friends who had complications or even rejections from cheek implants. This may be related to whether someone is still getting facial hair removal, so it’s safer to get that done before getting facial implants.

Ask your surgeon about the complication rate in trans patients and ways to help prevent problems if you decide to do this.
