Valerie Stivers vs. transgender people

Valerie Stivers is an American author and anti-transgender activist. Stivers contributes to anti-trans group blog UnHerd and profiled fellow UnHerd contributor Jesse Singal in their blog.

Background

Valerie Campbell Stivers was born on March 5, 1973 and earned a bachelor’s degree from Brown University in 1994. After interning at Mirabella, Stivers contributed to CondeNet and Travel & Leisure.

In August 2005, Stivers married investment banker Ivan Yuriyevich Isakov. They had children and later divorced.

Stivers was a sex columnist for alternative Moscow paper The eXile. Stivers edited Time Out New York until 2003.

Stivers is author of the 2007 novel Blood is the New Black and the 2025 book The Writer’s Table. Stivers has also written for anti-trans Catholic publications Compact and First Things.

Stivers has promoted “ex-trans” extremists like Sierra Weir, as well as Miles Yardley and Ray Alex Williams, who were reportedly cured of being transgender through Catholicism. The same piece also promotes “autogynephilia” and mentions Ray Blanchard, Milo Yiannopoulos, Andrea Long Chu, Hunter Schaefer, and “Phil Illy.”
