Sydney Wright and transgender people
Sydney Wright is a conservative American ex-transgender activist. Wright took hormones for about a year starting at age 19, then made additional gender changes.
Wright became a prominent ex-trans activist in 2019, appearing in media and testifying against trans healthcare. Wright was a key figure in Alabama’s criminalization of transgender healthcare. Wright has been involved with anti-trans groups Advocates Protecting Children, Detrans Voices, FRC Action, Kelsey Coalition, and Ruth Institute.
Background
Sydney Elizabeth Wright was born in July 1998. Wright began taking hormones at age 19 in 2017 and began using the name Jaxson.
In a 2019 Daily Signal essay, Wright describes struggling with shame over same-sex attraction. Wright wrote, “By the time I was 17, my parents had long divorced and I was living with my dad. That’s when he found out I was dating girls. He promptly kicked me out of the house, saying it was his way or the highway. With little choice, I moved in with my mom.”
At 18, Wright found transition success stories on Instagram. After five one-hour sessions, a therapist wrote an approval letter for testosterone, and a doctor in Atlanta prescribed it. Over nearly a year living as Jaxson, Wright reportedly gained about 50 pounds, became “pre-diabetic,” and developed “thickened blood.” Regretful but held back by pride, Wright stopped only after a grandparent tearfully asked, quitting “cold turkey.” Wright reportedly had “constant vomiting” and three ER visits over the next four months.
From 2014 to 2017, Wright was a sales manager at Petland. In 2017, Wright joined AT&T as a small business sales representative. Wright earned an associate’s degree from Georgia Northwestern Technical College in 2020.
Wright later moved to Cedar Bluff, Alabama. In May 2026, Wright founded Wright Care Property Management LLC. Wright operates it with partner Lyric Tankersley.
Ex-trans activism
Wright’s YouTube profile states: “A lesbian MAGA Political commentator for right sided beliefs. Once transgender leftist now fighting for kids rights not to be abused by the harms of transitioning.”
On August 8, 2020, Wright spoke at the “Can I Get a Witness” conference organized by “Joey Brite.”
After moving to Cedar Bluff, Alabama, Wright got involved in local ex-trans activism. Wright testified in Eknes-Tucker v. Ivey (later Boe v. Marshall) and was cited extensively in Judge Barbara Lagoa’s opinion written for the three-person appeals court. That opinion upheld Alabama’s criminalization of trans healthcare.
