Katherine Welch vs. transgender people

Katherine Welch is an American pediatrician and anti-transgender activist. Welch is affiliated with anti-trans hate group Society for Evidence-Based Gender Medicine. Welch is also part of the Healthcare Team for ex-transgender project Resilience Health Network.

Background

Katherine Welch earned a bachelor’s degree from University of Indianapolis in 1989, a medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine in 1997, and completed a pediatric internship and residency at University of Alabama in 2000. From 2000 to 2004 Welch was Co-Director of the Kwai River Hospital in Thailand. During this time Welch was invited to visit Bangkok’s red-light district. After seeing a need for better care for sex workers, Welch became involved in anti-trafficking medical ministry in southeast Asia.

From 2022 to 2024, Welch worked at Magnificat, a Christian Family Medicine Office in Indianapolis. Welch was part of an expert health panel for International Organization for Migration/UNGIFT that created “Caring for Trafficked Persons, Guidance for Health Providers.” Welch is a member of the European Freedom Network; the World Freedom Network; and is the Medical Director for Global Health Promise.

Anti-transgender activism

Welch appears in the 2023 Epoch Times anti-trans propaganda piece Gender Transformation: The Untold Realities directed by Tobias Elvhage and Liza Morberg. Others featured include Michael Laidlaw, Miriam Grossman, Pamela Garfield, Erin Friday, Kali Fontanilla, Christy Lozano, Walt Heyer, and Jennifer Bilek.

Welch attended a 2023 screening at The Heritage Foundation with Marjorie Taylor Greene, Laura Perry Smalts, Jan Jekielek, Mark Trammell, and January Littlejohn.
