Christian Values in Education (CVE Scotland) vs. transgender people

Christian Values in Education (CVE Scotland) is a Christian educational ministry in Scotland focused on “inspiring and encouraging Christian teachers and school staff to confidently live out their faith.”

In 2026, CVE Scotland was listed in retracted reports on the anti-rights movements in the United Kingdom.

Background

In 2014, the Christian Values in Education Project was registered in Scotland as charity number SC045125. (CVE Scotland)

CVE Scotland advocates on behalf of Christian educators in debates surrounding relationships and sex education, gender identity, freedom of speech, safeguarding, and parental rights in schools.

RHSP Scot education activism

CVE Scotland submitted a commentary on proposed changes to the guidance “Relationships, Sexual Health and Parenthood (RSHP) Education in Scottish Schools.” They expressed concern that the guidance forces teachers to affirm or encourage ideas about sex and gender that conflict with Christian dogma:

“However, there may still be concerns for Christians who hold to the historic Christian sexual ethic, which defines marriage as a union between one man and one woman. Are teachers expected to acknowledge that same sex relationships and sexual activity occur and provide relevant information about this, or are they expected to affirm same sex relationships and sexual activity? The former is to be expected, while the latter is problematic, as it would actually be counterproductive to inclusion and acceptance for pupils with moral objections to same sex relationships, some of whom may themselves be same-sex attracted. Similar questions may be raised about discussion of gender identities.”

They had similar concerns about what would be taught about gender:

“What does it mean for children to have opportunities to ‘explore gender’ (Section 3.11) and then later to ‘discover and express their own identity’ (Section 4.12)? This seems to solidly embed the ideological beliefs that gender is self-determined, and distinct from biological sex. Are all children to be encouraged to question their gender identity? Will pupils be required to use the chosen pronouns of their peers to be inclusive?”
