Isaac Marks vs. transgender people

Isaac Marks is a South African psychiatrist who performed electroshock and other forms of aversion to “cure” transgender people. Marks collaborated with psychiatrists John Bancroft and Richard Green.

Background

Isaac Meyer Marks was born February 16, 1935 in Cape Town, South Africa. Marks met John Bancroft soon after arriving in the United Kingdom in 1960.

Marks earned a medical degree and a diploma in psychological medicine from University of Cape Town in 1973. Marks married historian Shula Eta Winkour Marks in 1957 and had two children.
