Glenn Loury vs. transgender people

Glenn Loury is an American economist and key figure in the intellectual dark web, a gateway to the far right.

Loury is connected to a number of anti-trans figures.

Background

Glenn Cartman Loury was born on September 3, 1948, in Chicago, Illinois, and grew up on the city’s South Side. Loury earned a bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University in 1972 and a doctorate from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology 1976 at age 28.

Loury joined Northwestern University as an assistant professor in 1977. In 1982 Loury was granted tenure at Harvard University and taught there from 1982 to 1991. In 1991, Loury moved to Boston University and was founding director of the Institute on Race and Social Division from 1991 to 2005. In 2005, Loury began teaching at Brown University

Loury’s major books include A One-Third Nation (1981), The Anatomy of Racial Inequality (2002), and Race, Incarceration, and American Values (2008). Loury was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 1997 and won the Bradley Prize in 2019.

Loury has five children from different relationships:

  • Charlene (Teague) Loury: married 1969, divorced 1980, two children with Loury starting at age 15, prior to marriage – Lisa Loury-Lomas (born 1967) and Tamara Elaine Chrisler (born ~1968)
  • Janice Brazan (1948 – 2022): one child with Loury – Alden (born 1969)
  • Linda Datcher Loury (1952 – 2011): married 1983 – 2011, two children with Loury
  • LaJuan Sadler Loury (born 1965): married 2017
