Accoring to a bio on the anti-trans blog On the Woman Question: “Shay Woulahan is a proud lesbian activist, feminist and socialist from Belfast, Northern Ireland. She has a Bachelors of science and completed her thesis on sexism and objectification in advertising. She is now a writer for the feminist publication Reduxx and an Executive team member for LGB Alliance.”

Woulahan frequently writes about transgender people charged with or convicted of crimes, particularly sex crimes against women. Alasdair Gunn noted Woulahan’s central role in stoking this panic: “With the media flailing, it is only due to those like J.K. Rowling, Kate Colman [sic], Genevieve Gluck, Anna Slatz, Shay Woulahan, Paddy O’Gorman, Graham Linehan, Kellie-Jay Keen and RĂłisĂ­n Michaux that this specific form of criminality is being discussed at all.”
