Harvey Belovski vs. transgender people

Harvey Belovski is a British Orthodox rabbi and anti-transgender activist. Belovski is an advisor to anti-trans group Sex Matters.

Background

Belovski earned a bachelor’s degree and a mater’s degree from University of Oxford in 1989. In 2011, In the 1990s, Belovski attended Beis HaTalmud Kollel, Gateshead and Gateshead Talmudical College. Belovski earned a doctorate from Birkbeck, University of London. In 2015, Belovski earned a master’s degree from City St George’s, University of London.

In 1998, Belovski began serving as Lecturer and Senior Consultant at Aitzah Limited, serving until January 2023. Belovski, founded The Vision Maven in 2013 and served as Senior Consultant until January 2023. From April 2003 to November 2023, Belovski was senior rabbi at Golders Green Synagogue. Since 2008, Belovski has held senior leadership roles at University Jewish Chaplaincy, becoming Chief Strategist and Rabbinic Head in 2019. Belovski also had advisory responsibilities at The United Synagogue from 2016, later serving as Organisational Consultant and Head of Rabbinic Recruitment. In October 2022, Belovski launched Clarity from Complexity.

Belovski’s spouse is journalist Vicki Belovski.

Anti-trans activism

On the Sex Matters profile, Belovski states:

“Sex matters in every sphere of public and private life. I have learned this as a husband, father, now grandfather and senior faith leader devoted to fairness and inclusion for all, especially the disenfranchised. Society can only function properly to protect the rights, safety and dignity of every one of its members if it is governed by unequivocal laws, clear protocols and standards that recognise and implement the immutability of sex, while educating people why this really matters.”
