Cathy Pitt is a British lawyer and anti-transgender activist. Pitt is an advisor to anti-trans group Sex Matters.
Background
Catherine Louise “Cathy” Pitt was born in May 1973. After graduating from Cheltenham Ladies College, Pitt earned a DiplĂ´me d’Études Juridiques Françaises [diploma in French legal studies] (DEJF) from UniversitĂ© de Limoges in 1994. In 1995, Pitt earned a law degree from University of Birmingham, followed by completion of a legal practice course at York Law School in 1996.
Pitt began practicing at Norton Rose Fulbright in 1996, rising to partner before leaving in 2014. In 2014, Pitt was named a partner at CMS Cameron McKenna and worked there until 2023.
Pitt has served on several boards, including The Association of Investment Companies, Baillie Gifford UK Growth Trust, and Gresham House Energy Storage Fund.
Anti-trans activism
Pitt was named as an advisor to Sex Matters in 2022. Pitt stated in the Sex Matters profile:
“Sex matters because women still face discrimination throughout their careers because of their sex. We need to be able to talk about the impact that our sex has on our career progression. Put simply, if we can’t talk about our sex, we cannot overcome sexism.”
