Sarah Haider vs. transgender people

Sarah Haider is a Pakistani-born American writer, public speaker, and anti-transgender activist. Haider co-hosts the anti-trans podcast A Special Place in Hell with Meghan Daum. Haider signed the 2020 Harper’s Letter with a number of other anti-trans activists.

Background

Haider was born on March 27, 1991 in Karachi, Pakistan. Haider’s family moved the the United States in the late 1990s, and Haide grew up in Houston, Texas.

Haider was raised Muslim but became an atheist at age 16. In 2013 Haider and Muhammad Syed co-founded Ex-Muslims of North America (EXMNA). Haider has frequently spoken and written about Islam and apostasy.

Anti-trans activism

Haider is closely associated with members of the “intellectual dark web,” described as a gateway to the far right.
