Network on Psychosexual Differentiation vs. sex and gender minorities

The Network on Psychosexual Differentiation was a group based at Penn State and led by anti-transgender activist Sheri A. Berenbaum.

Background

The group’s goal was to identify “normal developmental processes and developmental problems.” Their website stated:

This should also lead to an understanding of the complex origins of the psychological problems that are associated with variations in psychosexual differentiation, including those common in children and adolescents with intersex disorders and those associated with sex-atypical behavior, and ultimately to the development of evidence-based treatments that are specific to these populations.

The group had four meetings in 2003 and 2004, where they laid out various disease models of sex and gender minorities.
