I graduated from the Medical School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and continued my studies with the Postgraduate Diploma of Specialization of the Medical School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in “Medical Research Methodology – Clinical Research” (MSc). I then specialized in the First Psychiatric University Clinic of Aiginiteio Hospital of Athens, where I am a scientific associate of the Psychosexual Disorders Clinic. Since 2017 I have been a Doctor of Medicine in the Department of Neurosciences of the Medical School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, which I received with the grade of ‘Excellent’, while I am a member of the Hellenic Psychiatric Society, the European and the International Society of Sexual Medicine.
My psychotherapeutic training concerns both Psychodynamic Psychotherapy (Department of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, Aiginiteio Hospital, First Psychiatric Clinic of the National University of Athens) and Cognitive Psychotherapy (Research University Institute of Mental Health), while I have additionally completed training in Clinical Psychopathology (First Psychiatric Clinic of the National University of Athens) and Psychopharmacology (Hellenic Psychiatric Society).
Clinically, I am involved in the diagnosis and treatment of major and minor mental health disorders, with psychotherapeutic (cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, supportive and counseling), pharmaceutical or mixed treatment. I practice psychiatry in my private practice in Kifissia, as well as in the First University Psychiatric Clinic of Aiginiteio Hospital.
My area of expertise is Psychosexual Medicine. Since 2006 I have been a scientific associate of the Center for Sexual and Reproductive Health of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Institute for the Study of Urological Diseases-IMOP). In 2006 I was awarded at the 9th Pan -European Congress of Sexual Medicine in Vienna, with the award for the best presentation on Female Sexual Disorders.
In 2011, I completed the two-year postgraduate program on the Treatment of Psychosexual Disorders at the Research University Institute of Mental Health in Athens, of which I have been a member of the organizational and educational committee since then. In addition, I completed the European training-specialization program “Sexual Medicine Specialist Training Course” of the European Society of Sexual Medicine (ESSM), necessary for obtaining the European specialization in the field of Sexual Medicine, which I obtained after exams in 2014 (Fellow of the European Board of Sexual Medicine). My involvement in Psychosexual Medicine continues in research and clinical practice at Aiginiteio Hospital and in my private practice, while educationally I am a member of the educational committee of the EPIPSY Postgraduate Program ‘Treatment of Psychosexual Disorders’ and of IMOP (‘Clinical Sexology Seminars for Physicians’). In addition, I am an invited speaker at the Postgraduate Programs of the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens: a) ‘Interconnective Psychiatry: Separated Care of Physical and Mental Health’ and 2) ‘Breastfeeding and Parenthood’. Since 2019, I have been a founding member, as well as a member of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Society of Sexology and Intersex Relations.
Since 2025 I have been the secretary of the Sexuality and Interpersonal Relations Section of the Hellenic Psychiatric Society.
I have published chapters in scientific books, as well as articles in foreign and Greek scientific journals that have received >140 bibliographic citations, while I have presented about 40 papers in Greek and international scientific conferences (detailed report in the section ‘My scientific work’). Finally, I am a reviewer of the scientific journal Sexual Medicine Open Access: An Official Journal of the International Society for Sexual Medicine.
