Norman Spack and transgender people

Norman Spack is an American pediatric endocrinologist who is a key historical figure in pioneering care for trans and gender diverse youth in the United States. Spack co-founded the Gender Management Service (GeMS) at Boston Children’s Hospital.

Background

Norman Paul Spack was born in April 1943. Spack earned a bachelor’s degree atĀ Williams CollegeĀ in 1965 and graduated fromĀ Rochester School of MedicineĀ in 1969.

Spack is affiliated with American Physicians Fellowship for Medicine in Israel (APF).
