Dena Zeraatkar vs. transgender people

Dena Zeraatkar is a Canadian researcher who was a consultant for anti-transgender hate group Society for Evidence-Based Gender Medicine (SEGM).

Background

According to the SEGM 2023 conference program, Zeraatkar is:

Assistant professor at McMaster University in the Departments of Anesthesia and Health Research Methods, Evidence, and Impact. Dr. Zeraatkar completed her doctoral degree in Health Research Methodology and a Banting Fellowship at Harvard Medical School. Her research centers on synthesizing evidence and evaluation to guide complex healthcare and public health questions. Dr. Zeraatkar is a leading a study to evaluate the quality of the WPATH SOC8 for the care of children, adolescence, and young people with gender dysphoria.

Anti-trans activism

Zeraatkar was an invited speaker at the 2023 SEGM conference in New York City. According to an article by anti-trans extremist Jamie Reed, who was in attendance, “Ivan Florez, William Malone, Susan [Bewley], and Dena Zeraatkar led the audience through the current gender dysphoria treatment guidelines and the assessment of the quality of the evidence.”
