Ypomoni is a French collective of unaccepting parents of trans and gender diverse youth. They describe themselves as “a collective of parents, caregivers, and citizens concerned by the explosion of rapid and irreversible medical transitions offered to children, and surgical transitions among adolescents and young adults.”
Background
YPOMONI (Υπομονή) means “patience” in Greek. According to their site, “We are a secular and apolitical collective bringing together parents concerned by the explosion of rapid and irreversible medical and surgical transitions among children, adolescents, and young adults.”
Anti-trans activism
The European Conservative reported that “During the French presidential campaign, the Ypomoni collective, which advocates an “ethical approach” to gender issues, had published an opinion piece aimed at the candidates, noting the multiplication of unjustified heavy transition processes, conducted without proper medical enquiries or explorations of alternative ways to cure suffering teenagers.”
Parents affiliated with Ypomoni provided testimony for the 2024 Lés Republicains report on transgender minors.
Several members have appeared on the Rebelles du Genre podcast.
