In adults, hormone blockers are used to reduce unwanted effects of hormones.

For transgender people who choose to have genital surgery, they do not need to use hormone blockers after the procedure.

In minors, hormone blockers can be used to prevent or delay puberty, allowing the minor to have more time to make medical decisions about their bodies.
