Transition and school applications [2007]

A reader noted:

I plan to apply to med school next year. The decision about either transitioning during the application/interview period, or interviewing as a male and when accepted transitioning and beginning classes as a female is a hard decision to make, yet I think crucial in terms of my chances at success.

My reply:

If you think your ability to get into med school would be hampered by your level of passability, I’d say get in, then transition.
