Denise Tree (aka Kiira Triea), the 56-year-old Baltimore computer technician and author of the transkids.us hoax site, was cited in 2005 for several traffic offenses and failed to appear at trial. In 2007, the case moved to trial. The prosecutor declined to proceed on the two lesser charges (failure to display registration card on demand and displaying expired registration plates). The most serious charge remains an open case as of this report:
PERSON DRIVING MOTOR VEHICLE ON (HIGHWAY, PUBLIC USE PROPERTY) ON SUSPENDED LICENSE & PRIVILEGE
According to Maryland state law, the maximum penalty for a first offense of driving without a license provides imprisonment for up to 60 days as an alternative or in addition to the current maximum fine of $500.
